George J. Chang, MD, MS

Professor of Health Services Research, The University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center

Dr. Chang is the Chief of Colorectal Surgery, Department Deputy Chair, Professor of Surgical Oncology and Professor of Health Services Research at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He has expertise in the treatment of colon and rectal cancer, including minimally invasive surgery, sphincter preservation, and surgical management of locally recurrent disease. His research program is focused clinical outcomes of colon and rectal cancer treatment and on patient centered clinical comparative effectiveness research. He is co-chair of the Cancer Care Delivery Research Committee of the Alliance and a member of the Commission Cancer, the AJCC Lower GI Committee, and the Gastrointestinal Cancer Steering Committee of the National Cancer Institute. He has authored over 175 peer reviewed manuscripts. He has served continuously as a member of the ASCRS and its various committees for 15 years.
