Dr. Hyman received his BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980 and his M.D. from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 1984. He completed his surgical residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, and his colon and rectal fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He is currently Professor of Surgery, Chief of the Section of Colon and Rectal Surgery and Co-director of the Center for Digestive Diseases at the University of Chicago Medicine.
Dr Hyman is presently President-elect of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, Director of the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery, serves on the Editorial Board of the Annals of Surgery, as Co-Editor of Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery and as the Co-chair for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Surgery Research Network.
